Listen to Brush Your Teeth! Vol. I
Wide-Eye Kids produces message- or values-based children's music. Each Wide-Eye Kids' values-based compilation, Eat Your Vegetables, Please!, Brush Your Teeth!, and forthcoming 2008 titles, Read a Book!, Love Your Planet!, Be My Friend!, and Being Different is Okay! are designed for great listening fun, and to instill a lifelong message. The musicians on Wide-Eye Kids' values-based compilations include Grammy winners, Grammy nominees, and Parent's Choice Award winners.
Brush Your Teeth! came about through a conversation with Jane in the office at my own dentist, Craig McBeth in Keene, NH. We were talking about CAESY and the many patient educational tools they provide dentists. As a multimedia educator, I was surprised to learn that no one had incorporated children's music to reduce young patient anxiety and reinforce the take-care-of-your-teeth message. As I had just produced Eat Your Vegetables, Please!, Brush Your Teeth! seemed like a natural. The more dentists and pediatric dentists we spoke with about the idea, the more encouraged we were. The 50-plus children's musicians responded with enthusiasm, and Chip Mergott, for example, one of Bonnie Raitt's "favorite songwriters," wrote a song for the compilation.
